Worcester's Seement Pond

So much for swimming in the new Crompton Park Pool this year. I would be really surprised if the city opened this thing up before the end of the summer.

Just another embarrassment for the city management.

  1. Since I currently work on Millbury Street, I've been keeping my eye on the destruction/construction of the pool for months now. There was a long period of time where there was nothing being done - they claimed to be "testing" for PCBs. I'm disappointed the T&G took so long to craft an article that could have been written at least a month ago. However, in the past week, I have seen lots of work going on. My question is, what will happen to the other unused city pools, if they also contain high levels of PCBs?

  2. I just drove by there the other day and it looked like a complete mess.

My guess is the city will do nothing with the other pools, at least at this time. Money will be the big issue or lack there is of it.

It's just a matter of time that the Crompton Park pool, once opened will eventually suffer the same fate. No money means the pool will be closed.

  3. council asked the parks dept to put together a schedule to demolish the other city pools...one will become a sprinkler park two more will be rebuilt with state funds as mitigation for csx expansion
